Are Strings Attached? One-man show by Vidyadhara

Vidyadhara/Simon Lovat returns to WLBC with a new one man play about about graffiti, tennis and Pinocchio that explores themes of fame, identity and Insight that explores themes of fame, identity and Insight. Viola and piano recital by Paul Silverthorne and David Owen Norris

A programme of Beethoven, Britten and Brahms performed by one of the country's leading viola players Paul Silverthorne ("a virtuoso in sensitivity and technique" - The Times), and well-known pianist, composer & broadcaster David Owen Norris. Part of WLBC's music and performance programme, featuring leading professional performers sharing work they love in the friendly and intimate setting of the Buddhist Centre. CANCELLED: Movement workshop: Body – Earth – Image

Sunday, December 9th, 2018 at 11:00am - 5:00pm

What could it mean to touch the earth? Contacting support? Or a source of energy; or something boundlessness - even, paradoxically, a sense of space? And how might our sense of Earth affect our mind? In this workshop we'll use easy, everyday movement and poetic imagery to explore such themes through creative process, witnessing ourselves and each other with a simple kindly attention, sharing our experience, awakening and integrating body and imagination. Of interest to movers, meditators, Buddhists and non-Buddhists alike - open to everyone, regardless of experience.

Boscobel String Quartet plays Schubert, Mozart & Beethoven

Saturday, January 26th at 7:00pm - 9:30pm

Composed of freelance professionals who both tour the world and contribute to some of London's leading orchestras and ensembles, the Boscobel Quartet has close links to WLBC and its concerts here are always popular. This concert is dedicated to the memory of Jinananda, a much loved teacher and friend at WLBC for many years until his death in December 2017.

VIOLET – a dramatisation in music and words of the life of Violet Gordon Woodhouse

Saturday, May 4th at 7:00pm - 9:30pm

with Maggie Cole playing harpsicord music by J S Bach, Couperin, Scarlatti, Purcell and Mozart; Chloe Pirrie and Hugo Bolton (actors). This unusual dramatisation - part solo harpsichord recital, part evocation in words - tells the story of one of the 20th century's most exotic and strikingly individual musical talents: Violet Gordon Woodhouse. Maggie Cole's previous recitals at WLBC have been very popular, so advance booking is particularly recommended for this event.
