During this sangha class Ratnaprabha will give a talk about Sanghrakshita, the founder of the Triratna Buddhist Community the WLBC is part of.

The English Buddhist Urgyen Sangharakshita founded the Triratna Buddhist Community in London in 1967. On 26 August, he celebrates his 90th birthday, and we will mark the occasion by introducing elements of his life and teaching. He became a wandering Buddhist monk in India soon after the war, and spent many years studying under teachers from Tibet, China and the Theravada tradition. The West London Buddhist Centre is run by members of the Order that he started, an order of men and women committed Buddhists, neither monastic nor lay. There are now centres all over the world, run by thousands of ordained Buddhists.

Contributions from Ratnaprabha, Jinananda and others.
