How to communicate well – new theme at Sangha Night

Published on Nov 13th 2017, in News

Speech has a significant place in Buddhist ethics. It’s the subject of no fewer than four of the traditional list of the ten ethical precepts.  But Buddhist ‘Right Speech’ is about far more than just watching your words and avoiding telling porkies under pressure.  At its heart, it’s about communication – finding the fullest, most vivid possible connection with others, however different they may be from ourselves; a connection in which we go beyond ourselves and find a taste, at least, of the Buddha’s wisdom and compassion.  Our Sangha Night class (Tuesdays 7-9.30pm) will be exploring this theme over the coming weeks in a series of talks and discussions – full programme here.  Open to all who’ve learned to meditate.  No charge, donations welcome.
