WLBC’s Film Club shows top notch films that have a connection to Buddhist teachings. Join us to watch, discuss the film and hang out. This month: Sameer Patel introduces The Fountain directed by Darren Aronofsky.

Sameer writes: “Darren Aronofsky takes themes of life, death, reincarnation, immortality and mixes it in with Mayan mythology to create a sumptuous visual and sonic feast of a film in this, his exegesis of the soul. He pushes non linear narrative to the limit with three different time periods all 500 years apart, moving from the pomp and ceremony of 15th century Spanish Courts through 21st century America to the future where man travels among the stars. If, like me, you like being pushed then, this film is for you. Everyone will have their own interpretation, and mine is simply that death is nothing to fear. Some may be perplexed at times watching this, but if you surrender to ‘The Fountain’ you will leave the richer for it.”
