“When the mind is quiet, the asana is correct” Pattabhi Jois
Join Martha for this workshop which will provide an opportunity to learn the key elements within the Ashtanga Primary Series, often referred to as “yoga chikitsa” or yoga therapy. We will explore within the practice of asana (postures) the three areas, body, breath and drishti (gaze), that comprise each asana and look to develop a deeper sense of awareness of them as we practice. Doing asana is only a small part of yoga and we will discuss the therapeutic elements of the practice which affect not only the body but also the mind.
Martha will lead a guided practice to allow students to incorporate these learnings and experience a deeper meditative practise. We will also take time to play with some of the more complex poses within the Primary Series. And finish with a full discussion and exploration of the finishing sequence.
