“Just as in the great ocean there is but one taste – the taste of salt – so in [the teachings of the Buddha] there is but one taste – the taste of freedom.” – The Buddha (translated by Bhikkhu Bodhi)

Buddhism is a path towards freedom. The freedom to break out of habitual patterns, thoughts and behaviours. The freedom to make more creative choices in our lives, to expand our awareness and perspective. The freedom to live and love more deeply as we move towards clarity and wisdom.

Join us for this course on the key aspects of the Buddhist tradition, that offer a path to greater freedom and confidence in the midst of our complicated modern lives. We’ll take a look into the fundamental aspects of Buddhist life, such as meditation, ethics and the importance of community, as well as an introduction to symbols and ritual. We will explore how to apply these teachings in your day-to-day life.

Classes will include a mixture of discussion, presentation and optional ‘take-home’ reflections, along with an experiential taste of Buddhist meditation. The course will give you an ideal foundation for taking part in our drop-in classes, as well as our other courses and retreats.

No experience or knowledge of meditation or Buddhism needed.

This is an in-person event and we are looking forward to welcoming you in the West London Buddhist Centre. Please check on our website for the latest guidance on making our centre Covid-safe for each other.

Course runs on six Mondays, 19 September – 31 October (with a break week on 10 October) 2022, 7 – 9.30 pm
