Led by Paramananda, one of the most experienced and sought-after meditation teachers in the Triratna Buddhist Community, this retreat will explore the foundations of meditation found in the myth of the Buddha’s life. Taking our seat beneath the Bodhi tree on a diamond throne, dealing with the various attacks of Mara through love and gaining support from the earth. There will be periods of silence to deepen our experience of ourselves strengthened by collective practice and ritual. An opportunity to take time out from our everyday lives and gain a glimpse of the richness of our own being that lays beneath our surface experience.
This retreat, the longest and most intensive in our programme, is a rare opportunity to fully immerse yourself in Dharma practice with others from the WLBC sangha in the beautiful and highly supportive conditions of Vajrasana, an award winning purpose built Buddhist retreat centre in the midst of the Suffolk countryside, easily accessible from London.
Paramananda is a well known and widely respected meditation teacher, leading classes and retreats both in the UK and internationally. Ordained in 1985, he is the author of several popular books about meditation and Buddhist practice, most recently The Myth of Meditation (published 2019), and also including the best-selling Change Your Mind, as well as A Deeper Beauty and The Art of meditation: The Body. He has been involved in the West London Buddhist Centre for many years, and has served as its Chair.
Open to anyone who has a basic understanding of Buddhism (eg from an Introduction to Buddhism course), and has learnt to meditate. Please contact the Centre if you’re unsure whether this retreat is suitable for you.
