The Dharma Night class is a chance to explore Buddhism and meditation through a rolling programme of presentations and small group discussions. Open to all who have learnt meditation. A Buddhism course is a good way in to this class, but you are very welcome whether or not you have done a course. Tuesdays 7-9pm, by donation. September programme:

6 October: Follow the Threads of Your Meditation

13 October: The System of Practice – Integration with Ratnadeva

After we begin engaging with Buddhism we quickly discover that there are many different approaches to meditation. This can be confusing, even bewildering at first. Which approach is ‘the most effective’? Which one is ‘right for me’? Sangharakshita, the founder of Triratna, was keen to help practitioners by presenting a coherent account of the different meditation techniques being used in the movement, their aims and how they fit into the bigger picture of the path to awakening. He developed his ‘System of Meditation’ for this purpose. However, meditation, to be truly effective needs to be integrated with the cut and thrust of our daily lives. His system of meditation therefore developed organically into a comprehensive System of Spiritual Practice. We will be exploring this system on Dharma Nights over the next weeks, with a view to clarifying the main features of the different meditations and how they fit together as a complementary sequence.

20 October: The System of Practice – Positive Emotion with Prajnanita and Sophie

27 October: The System of Practice – Spiritual Death (tbc)

3 October: The System of Practice – Spiritual Rebirth – Ratnadeva

10 October: The System of Practice – Receptivity with Bodhilila
