This course runs over five Wednesdays 10 March to 7 April 2021, 7-9pm
Do you find yourself going round and round the same patterns of behaviour over and over, feeling stuck and frustrated? The Tibetan image of the Wheel of Life can help us to make sense of our lives and what it means to be human. It can help us move beyond a limited and confined sense of ourselves towards greater freedom and liberation.
A core Buddhist principle is that all things arise in dependence upon conditions. When those conditions cease, new situations can arise. What does this mean for us and our lives? How can we fulfil our potential and live more meaningfully? This five week course will unlock the mysterious teachings of this image. We will delve into its rich symbolism and hear what it has to tell us about how to live mindfully, with greater ease.
Week 1: The law of conditionality and the 3 poisons that keep the wheel spinning.
Week 2: Understanding karma from a Buddhist perspective.
Week 3: The chain that keep us bound to the wheel.
Week 4: The lower realms of existence.
Week 5: The higher realms of existence and the way out.
