Reflect and Open – Saturday
Day 2 – Saturday, 30th December
Reflection can happen anytime about any time –
the last year, the last week, the last moment.
10.30am-12.30pm (practice/talk)
Programme
Maitripushpa explores what reflection might look like and how we might engage with it, its relationship to awareness of now and what Akshobhya can offer us with his grounded, mirror-like wisdom.
This was the year that was not the year
by Brian Bilston
This was the year that was not the year
I repaired the bathroom tap
and emptied out the kitchen drawer
of a lifetime’s worth of crap.
This was the year that was not the year
in which I launched a new career.
516 A West End hit eluded me
as did Time Person of the Year.
This was the year that was not the year
I became a household name.
Action figures were not sold of me.
I wasn’t made a dame.
This was the year that was not the year
I spent less time on my phone.
Nights of passion did not happen
in boutique hotels in Rome.
This was the year that was the year
I didn’t get that much done –
much the same as the year before,
much like the one to come.

Quotations:
‘a state of complete simplicity costing no less than everything’
TS Eliot
“The body tells the truth regardless of if we speak its language or not. … Often my practice has focused on trying to meet my body where it is, instead of constantly trying to get it to meet me where I am.”
