Connecting more than dots
Connecting more than dots
Without realising it, we can become very attached and focused on the ‘dots’ (or goals): a specific day (shortest day of the year), completing a project (finishing this newsletter on time), planning for the future (food for a celebration). And with that over focus, we lose sight of where we spend most of our time: the process of connecting those dots.
The practice of mindfulness with curiosity is something that can help us to not only bring our awareness into our present experience (radical!!) but also open to the enormous fluidity of that experience. What happens now – and now – and now, how we feel about it – again and again and again, how things are effected by conditions around us and inside us. It’s both the micro of moment-by-moment and the macro of wow!, what a big interconnected galaxy I am part of.
So as we move towards the shortest day of the year and then, all being well, the lengthening of days and the potential for a new year, I wish us all the wisdom and compassion and courage to step into right now, open to those around us, that precious being who is reading this right now – the good, the sad, the painful, the fantastic. And having the confidence of our own experience to remember that, like the changing of the light, all things will change.
May we hold each other’s hands as we ride this astonishing rollercoaster of life.
Happy holidays and a most peaceful 2025
With a bow
