Here’s a special invitation from Amlanadhi and Amalavajra to join millions of Buddhists around world to celebrate the Buddha’s awakening 2500 years ago. This Sunday is part of a whole weekend of celebration.

The Buddha was born as we are born,
What the Buddha overcame, we too can overcome
What the Buddha attained, we too can attain

When we recite this verse in the ritual the Sevenfold puja, we connect with our deep aspiration to practice and realise Truth, and to become like a Buddha. On Sunday we will gather together, as if under the bodhi tree (the tree of awakening) and bask in the warmth and compassion which radiates out from Shakyamuni Buddha.

Together, we will be exploring the seven weeks following the Buddha’s enlightenment, a period that included meditation and symbolism, gratitude and the sharing of wisdom teachings.

We begin our afternoon with an invitation to quiet contemplation and meditation. After the tea break, there will be a Dharma talk, followed by a beautiful puja to mark this most auspicious day.

May the infinite wisdom and compassion of Shakyamuni Buddha radiate out in all directions
