Exciting news! Saraha coming to the WLBC

Published on Sep 21st 2019, in News

Saraha, a well-known and loved Order member will be joining the Centre Team temporarily from late September to early November this autumn. Saraha has given a long and varied service to the Triratna Order, including a stint as Men’s Mitra Convenor at the Birmingham Centre and five years caring for Sangharakshita. Saraha brings his own personal touch to a wide and deep knowledge of the Dharma. He places emphasis on the importance of finding pleasure and authenticity in meditation and in life generally, honouring our bodies and human desires as part of the natural world. Saraha currently spends the main part of his year at the Eco-Dharma Centre in a beautiful and wild part of the Catalan Pyrenees. Eco-Dharma focuses on the development of ecological consciousness, drawing on the Dharma and emerging ecological paradigms.

We will be fortunate to have Saraha contributing to a range of our regular activities at the WLBC during his stay in London – he will be coming on board the team for the Tuesday Sangha night classes and will lead the night on 29 October on the theme of the ‘Six Paramitas’ (the virtues of the Bodhisatva) and/or 12 November on ‘Sila’ (ethics); drop-in meditation classes, including Tuesday lunchtimes and some Saturday mornings; the Buddhism in the City drop-in class on Saturday 19 October; Saraha will be leading a couple of day sessions, including Sangha Day on 10 November and, above and beyond the call of duty, the Mindfulness Day on Sunday 20 October (10.30-4.30pm) which happens to be his birthday.

Do say hello to Saraha if you bump into him on one of his stints on reception.
