Courses in Meditation, Mindfulness, and Buddhism

Dhyana_Tapasya_Meditate_2Our courses run for 6 weeks, on the same day each week, at the new premises of the West London Buddhist Centre in Bayswater: 45a Porchester road, W2 5DP, where we will be moving at the end of December 2014.  We also have a class in Ealing on Wednesday evenings, see below. In addition we sometimes  run mindfulness-based stress reduction courses.

You can start with either a Newcomers’ Meditation and Buddhism or a Newcomers’ Meditation course, and then choose a second level course to supplement your learning and deepen your practice. Once you have done a newcomers’ course, you can also come to our Tuesday Sangha class and our Friday practice class. If you are unable to attend one of our meditation courses you can learn meditation at our drop-in classes. More information about meditation drop-in classes can be found here

Booking conditions: please note that full payment is required to make your booking. Payments are non transferable but can be refunded up to 5 working days before the course starts (minus £20 cancellation fee).  In the event of the course being cancelled, you will receive a full refund.

Newcomers’ Buddhism and Meditation Courses

Six-week courses teaching simple meditation practices based in mindfulness, and basic Buddhism. Course fees: £95 full waged ; £60 part waged; £35 unwaged.   Next course starts Wednesday evening, 7 January, 7-9:30pm, and then for a total of 6 Wednesday evenings, finishing on 11 February.

Led by Ratnaprabha, this course will introduce Buddhism using the traditional symbol, the Tibetan Wheel of Life. This illustrates the types of worlds we inhabit, and how we can deal with destructive habits to free ourselves from the ever-repeating wheel.

Practical Buddhism Course

An evening course intended for you if you already have a grounding in meditation, or have done at least one introductory course. More meditation, and looking at the use of Buddhist teachings in daily life. Benefiting from non-violence, generosity and contentment; finding your most precious values and living from them with integrity; integrating mindfulness and meditation practices into what your days are really like;  cultivating insight into how all experiences, including the flow of ‘selfing’, arise and shift on, opening the ‘doorways to liberation’.  Spiritual community and the WLBC Sangha.  How to use chanting and ritual.   Course fees: £95 full waged; £60 part waged; £35 unwaged.  Next course date to be announced 

Exploring Meditation Course

This is a course designed for people who have learned meditation, but would like more input and guidance in order to develop a more creative approach and a deeper experience of meditation practice.  The course will be very experiential, responding to what is happening (or not happening!) in participants meditations. There will be plenty of opportunity to discuss and explore different ways of working in meditation. £95/£60/£35.

Ealing Course and ongoing class

At the Friends Meeting House, 17 Woodville Rd, Ealing, London W5 2SE. All our other courses are at the Buddhist Centre at 45a Porchester Rd, W2 5DP.

These Buddhism and meditation courses are suitable for newcomers as well as those who have attended previous courses.  Mindfulness and other meditation methods.

Wednesday evenings, 7-9:30pm, you can come any week. Led by Jinananda and Munissara. Includes full instruction in meditation, currently exploring the theme ‘The System of Meditation’. No charge, but a £5-10 donation for room hire costs is very helpful.
